Debut cassette from local Calgary ramshackle enthusiasts, Spec Realists. Originally they were performing under the name Child Trespassers but before you search the client list I can safely say the public wrongly assumed it was poking fun at the most abhorrent of crimes when it was the confusing and complicated set of laws dealing with minors trespassing and who holds liability.
A particularly good punk name driven to the bin by a poisoned society and our broken, collective brain. What we lose in a moniker we gain in this extremely memorable set of songs. It's a style only perfected by leaning into imperfections. The worship of amateurism, stirred and jagged pop music and cheap-easy-do-it functionality. You get 6.5 originals and 0.5 Instant Automatons cover spread over various levels of lo-fi spatter. The tedium IS medium, comparisons are obvious and the sound is timeless. Put that in your teapot and smoke it. Spec Realists are here and you fuckin' love it.
