Debut from Oakland's Pleasure Gallows. Dark, end of civilization A side, and classic rock n roll B sides. Pleasure Gallows may be the last evolutionary step before we are all CHUDs. Limited press of 300 copies, because the world may not survive Pleasure Gallows. Art by Benjamin Marra.

Our take: Debut vinyl from this Oakland band. On the surface, this feels like a fairly standard, if very raw, riff-rocker with nasty, confrontational production befitting a Killed by Death classic (they even swipe the riff from the Kids' "Fascist Cop" for the intro of one track). However, something about the vibe here--particularly on the a-side, "Positivity"--feels uniquely dark and apocalyptic. While there aren't any synths and it doesn't really sound like them in any appreciable way, something about this track reminds me of the Screamers in the way that it sounds like it's the soundtrack to the world ending. My only complaint is that the record is frustratingly brief, but if you're tuned into the Total Punk world of 7" singles with a total running time of around two minutes that won't bother you at all.
