Summer in Abaddon, Pinback's 2004 debut on Touch & Go Records, is a gorgeous piece of indie-pop: dreamy soundscapes, breathy harmonizing vocals, deep bass overtones, piano interludes, surprising structures and time signatures, and a wee bit of aggressive guitar for flavor. While it was recorded at co-leader Zach Smith's home studio it's definitely not a low-fi experience. One of the most pleasurable alternative releases of the 2000's reissued on 15th anniversary colored 180g vinyl LP with the long out-of-print "Fortress" b/w "Todo" 7" (previously only available as a limited promotional item with the original 2004 album release).
