Taking their name from a hostile siege device in Games Worksop’s Warhammer game, Bolt Thrower formed in Birmingham, England circa 1986 with the intention of making heavy and aggressive rock music inspired by bands such as Sacrilege, Discharge, Candlemass and Slayer. Bolt Thrower issued their first five albums on Earache Records including In Battle There Is No Law! (1988), Realm of Chaos – Slaves to Darkness (1989), War Master (1991), The IVth Crusade (1992) and ...For Victory (1994).
