Barcelona's Belgrado are back with their second album and it is a corker. They were one of the first and most exciting bands in the current wave of death rock-inspired bands, and I think this LP secures their spot at the head of the pack. This time around I'm hearing a lot more of a Killing Joke influence... like Killing Joke's first LP, a lot of the rhythms are almost proto-industrial, and the interplay between the bass and guitar is extremely dynamic. The vocals, however, are a little more punk, retaining that Mob influence that defined the band early on. Beautiful packaging, too, including a matte-finish sleeve and very cool poster insert.
