Storewide Sale

We don't see any reason why our online customers should miss out on all of the fun, so just about everything in the store is on sale now through Sunday, April 23! New releases are 10% off (with the exception of Record Store Day exclusive releases and some recent arrivals), and all used items are 15% off! As I said, the sale applies both in the store and online, and you should already see the sale prices reflected on the webstore. 

Free Beer!

Ponysaurus Brewing Co. of Durham, North Carolina will be providing free cold beer for our customers of legal age! Even better, one of the beers we give out will be a "golden ticket" that includes entry to their upcoming event Don't Be Meant to People: A Concert for the ACLU of North Carolina featuring Hiss Golden Messenger, Megafaun + Special Guests, Shirlette Ammons, Loamlands, and DJ Bug Spray (aka Mac McCaughan from Superchunk).

Free Food

Record Store Day (which is actually headquartered in Raleigh... the more you know!) will be providing some Krispy Kreme donuts! I'm sure we'll have coffee on hand as well, though I think it's supposed to be like 85 degrees in Saturday, so we'll see how many people are looking for hot coffee. 

Exclusive Releases

Of course this is what Record Store Day is all about... the limited, exclusive vinyl that you can only get from brick and mortar record stores like Sorry State! Below is a list of all of the exclusive releases that we ordered for Record Store Day. We cannot guarantee we will have all of these releases on Record Store Day. Lots can happen in the lead-up to RSD. Sometimes releases get canceled or delayed. Other times there aren't enough copies of a given release to go around, and even though we ordered copies we get fewer than we ordered or perhaps even none at all. And sometimes there are releases that we don't even hear about until the window to order them has closed (like the A New Hope soundtrack LP... how did that one slip past me? Sorry, Star Wars fans!). As per Record Store Day's rules, we cannot hold items for anyone or sell any of these before Record Store Day. If you want something on this list your best bet is to be at the store when we open at noon on April 22. Actually, it'll probably be a good idea to get there well before that, because by the time we open the door the line usually stretches to the end of the block. 

In accordance with Record Store Day's rules, any remaining stock will be posted to our web site after we close the evening of April 22 (about 8PM Eastern US time). Releases will be available in the online store for the same price they were available for in the physical store, and you can expect the same prompt and careful mail order service you've come to expect from Sorry State. Once the RSD exclusives go online you'll be able to see them all here.
