Sakset is a collaboration of Finnish sound artists Läjä Äijälä, Jussi Lehtisalo and Tomi Leppänen. The avant-electro group’s debut Lahja is a haunting album driven by distorted arpeggios, subliminal harmonics and echo chamber melodies. The band’s chaotic appeal is extracted in equal parts from Kraftwerk and Rancid Hell Spawn, nailed down by Läjä Äijälä’s guttural charm. This music equals sex.

Our take: LP of electronic music from this Finnish three-piece that features a member of Terveet Kadet. I feel under-equipped to write a description of it, really, since this is pure electronic music and I don't have much of a background in that, but I have to say it's totally killer. The songs are minimal and dub-y and have kind of a trip-hop feel to me, but the vocals are usually very distorted and buried in the mix. It creates an interesting dynamic, as the music feels almost poppy, like it's always just on the verge of breaking into some big vocal melody, but that never comes. I feel like Sakset is something that people who are way, way cooler than me would listen to, but even if it makes me feel like a philistine for liking guitar music so much I still quite enjoy this one.
