Die! Die! Die! are back. - Charm.Offensive. - is the name of the new baby and yes, the sound of the New Zealand trio has changed. The twelve new pieces increasingly shift the focus towards the reverberating, spherical shoegaze sound that has always been inherent in their songs. The songs have become calmer, less hectic and still unleash the bulky, shimmering charm that is so typical of Die!Die!Die!. It is this way of dealing with the subject of noise that, after more than 10 years, Die!Die!Die! in particular and Charm.Offensive. in particular so exciting and just as timeless. This not standing still and looking for expression, this exploration of one's own limits and reinventing it is a real pleasure, which is all the more effective the more one is familiar with the output of the trio, which was founded in Dunedin in 2003. Charm.Offensive. sounds noticeably more reflected, maybe also more mature, without discarding the familiarity of the earlier releases.
