The history of rock 'n' roll is also a history of misunderstandings. One such misinterpretation concerns the word sex (perpetuated in the most famous of phrases). I am firmly convinced that the main reason for attraction and attractiveness in rock 'n' roll is not the idea of the bare union of corpulent bodies, but rather the sensual radiance of the art and its performers themselves. In my opinion, an argument that is often deliberately misused in this context is excessive masculinity. On closer inspection, however, muscle men are the exception rather than the rule. Why do I choose this introduction? 25 years ago, at the beginning of the heyday of Scandinavian rock, a band was formed in Stockholm whose music and songs I would still without hesitation describe as sexy, lustful, attractive, seductive or even erotic. This band, started by four scrawny boys, did everything that for me embodied the greatness of this genre. The rock I like has always been the rock of the streets not the stadiums, the rock of the underdogs not the smart entrepreneurs. It was rock that didn't get its functionality from meter-high amplifier towers, but from the sexiness of soulful songs. We're talking about Sons of Cyrus, perhaps one of the most underrated bands of this genre. Formed in 1996 by Erik, Love, Mackie and Topi, later after Erik left the band, continued with Max and Torgny on harmonica, they record 3 albums and 7 singles. All songs are characterized by a pleasant brashness, they seem like a gang of street boys whistling through the gap between their teeth. Cheeky, presumptuous and impertinent. They don't want to know what the world costs, because it already belongs to them. This double LP combines various singles and sampler contributions and is for me a thank you for all the great memories I had with and through them and for you a nice opportunity to finally buy some great garage punk again.
