Here’s a record I’m very proud and excited to announce, a reissue of one of the obscurest tapes in my collection.
The Satelite City Punk Rockers!!! -as their name indicates- were a short-lived power trio formed in Ciudad Satélite (State of Mexico) in the late 70’s, part of the very first wave of Mexican punk along with bands like Dangerous Rhythm, Plastic Cocks, Size, Rebel’D Punk, The Vomits, The Casuals and Hospital X (band whose 7” was also previously reissued by this label).
In the few months they were around they didn’t play more than two or three shows at house parties, and this one where these two tracks were taken from. Both tracks were recorded live in 1979 at the legendary venue and record store Hip 70, the birthplace of Mexican punk and also a key place for the Mexico City underground scene during the years of Mexico’s ban on rock & roll.
This might be the second oldest Mexican punk recording (after the mighty Dangerous Rhythm debut 7”) and the very first recording of a female-fronted Mexican punk (and possibly latin punk) band ever.
Two catchy and dope af tracks of ’77 style punk rock/power-pop, for fans of Nasty Facts, The Gymslips, The Brat, Kleenex, Chin Chin and Kenny & The Electrics!!

[Just as a curiosity: several years after SCPR’s formation, despite the fact that the band remained largely unknown to many people til today, “Punk rocker de Ciudad Satélite” (Satelite City punk rocker) became some kind of derogatory term used by the hardcore kids from the ghettos to refer to all middle and upper class punks in the scene, since Ciudad Satélite was back then one of the richest neighborhoods in the Mexico City’s metropolitan area.]
