Jyväskylä, Finland’s Konventio dropped this self-released cassette in September 2022, and while few people outside the band’s home country heard it, we loved it here at Sorry State and thought it deserved a wider audience. While Konventio doesn’t sound particularly retro, this recording reminds us of so many 80s Finnish classics both in its youthful sense of musical discovery and in the way it seamlessly blends slashing hardcore punk with infectious, even slightly melodic, vocal parts and guitar lines. Fans of both older groups like Appendix and more recent bands like Kohti Tuhoa will love Konventio’s take on the classic Finnish punk sound.
Edition of 150 pro-duplicated cassettes with full color j-card and tiny lyric booklet.
