Debut 7" from this new Boston band featuring members of Sadist.

Our take: Debut 7" from this band out of Massachusetts who play a huge-sounding hardcore-crust hybrid. I would guess that Framtid is a big inspiration here, as the combination of hoarse, crusty vocals with a more straightforward, almost impossibly heavy hardcore approach is very much in step with that band's aesthetic. It's a tough sound to pull off, because there are a lot of pitfalls... if your riffs are too simple it'll sound generic, if your production isn't just right it'll sound either dinky or overproduced, if the riffing is too metallic it'll sound like metalcore, etc. It's a tough needle to thread, but Video Filth succeed ably. I mean, they don't really bring any drastically new ideas to the table, but you can't really fault them for that because EP is so perfectly executed on every level, and if you're looking to pound your fist to some heavy, crusty hardcore you'll have a tough time doing better than this.
