Puberty/Real Regular/No Bails/Perverts Again/Cheetahs/Hemingers/Noble Savages and MORE!!!!!!

Our take: Despite the homage to Killed by Death on the title and jacket, this is actually a compilation of current (or at least recent) bands from the rust belt, which according to the map on the back of the jacket extends to Toronto and Rochester at the northeast edge, down to Pittsburgh, across Ohio, over to Chicago, and encompasses Milwaukee as well as Detroit and most of Michigan to the north. With the possible exception of Chicago and Toronto, there is definitely a gloomy, post-industrial vibe to most of these cities, and most of the bands here explore similar vibes to Akron / Cleveland bands like Pere Ubu, the Bizarros, Devo, Rubber City Rebels, and the like. While those bands are, sonically speaking, pretty distinct one another, they share a certain vibe that most of the bands on this compilation tap into. Names familiar to frequenters of Sorry State's web site include Perverts Again and Radiation Risks, but with sixteen bands represented this comp is bound to introduce you to something you hadn't heard before, and if you like that gloomy, smog-drenched post-garage vibe it's more than likely that several of these will be bands you flip out over.
