This is our first local mixtape! These things are all DIY, from the ground up.
We had the chance to work with some seriously awesome artists to make this all happen. Each track was recorded on a vintage 4-track Tascam tape recorder, in bedrooms, basements, garages, and storage units.
The goal was to capture the feeling of recording a demo in the late 1990's / early 2000's when your best option was usually to hit record on a cassette deck and hope for the best. Limitations often lead to creativity and we tried to capture that. We left the noise, the mess-ups and the imperfections to capture something truly lofi and raw.
This project is meant to showcase some of the incredible artists playing in Raleigh, NC. It also helps to support what we’re doing at Indie Rock Catalog, which is to tell the story of independent artists.
