Joni Ekman, the little giant and unwavering eternal movement of Finnish rock, will release his new solo album, Joko Saa Säälaaa?, at the beginning of December. The Tampere-born artist's seventh solo album contains half an hour of guitar pop, glam rock, folk and electric piano ballads about living life; eye contact on a summer night and big dreams, broken glass on a sticky disco dance floor and a hangover. " I will remember you, even though you may not know it..." says the artist himself, and continues:
"Joko Saa Saalaa? is the result of over two years of maturation. After the challenging EkMania! (2022) double album, the desire was to make more direct pop music again without any tricks. So the album does NOT contain Joni Ekman & Koira -style punky boogie rock, but includes, among other things, electric piano ballads, synapop spirit, glam rock sparkle and even nuances of folk and soul music. Independent recordings began in July 2023 in Tampere's Nekala and the whole thing slowly took shape by the summer of 2025. Recording songs independently in a training room brings challenges but also the freedom to do whatever you want. You can't compromise on that!”
