Debut 7" EP from this new hardcore band based in Berlin, but with members from Italy, Mallorca and Australia (including people from DIAT and ORDEN MUNDIAL). IDIOTA CIVILIZZATO are here with the answer to the little asked question "What would Cheetah Chrome Motherfuckers be like if they grew up in the American midwest?". Hardcore punk being played because it's all that they know how to do and sounding like their lives depend on it.

Our take: Debut release from this band that, I believe, is based in Germany but the singer sings in Italian. It's presented as something of a Cheetah Chrome Motherfuckers homage, but it's not a total soundalike in the way that, say, Discharge-inspired bands try to recreate that sound... the distinctive chorus effect on the guitars that is a signature part of many CCM releases isn't here, for instance. However, you can tell that they're trying to channel some of the wild and loose spirit of CCM here, and they do it to great effect. The music is surprisingly complex too--a bit more Furious Party than 400 Fascists--utilizing a lot of different tempos and textures. It's funny, for something that's so raging on the surface, this record is remarkably subtle, and I grow to like it more and more with each listen. If you taste tends toward slightly skewed, left of center hardcore--think bands like Barcelona or the Lowest Form--I can't recommend this one highly enough.
