Yay, we have a new release out now on Sorry State from Sweden’s Prisão! No pre-order this time, as these are in-house and ready to ship. Sorry State presents the third EP from Stockholm, Sweden’s Prisão, released in cooperation with Denmark’s Adult Crash Records. Fronted by Brazilian expat Lucas Lima (who also plays guitar in Stockholm’s Vidro) and backed by an all-star cast of homegrown Swedish rippers, Prisão has been gaining steam for several years, releasing a demo tape in 2022 (later pressed to vinyl on Adult Crash) and a debut EP on Adult Crash and 11PM Records in 2024. 2026 finds Prisão at the height of their powers, their songwriting, studio chops, and live presence honed to razor sharpness. Befitting the members’ backgrounds, Prisão’s sound draws equally from the hooky, sprightly riffing of post-Totalitär Swedish bands like Herätys and Infernöh and the grimy desperation of 80s Brazilian hardcore, forging a sound simultaneously dextrous and anvil-heavy. At the center of it all, Lucas’s exquisitely shredded vocals imbue his concise lyrics—often consisting of just a few words—with a richness of emotion few hardcore shouters achieve. Nação is fast, heavy, raw, and direct, but with enough depth and complexity to keep it well clear of retread territory. So cue this one up and get hip to one of Europe’s hottest bands.
