Hailing from Mexico City are Zotz, rawdark punk in the vain of Lost Tribe with batcave elements. Artwork by Ashley Hohman. Mastered by Daniel Husayn of North London Bomb Factory.

Our take: Debut three-song EP from this post-punk band out of Mexico City. Unlike a lot of recent Mexican punk like Muerte or Tercer Mundo, Zots is a lot more "in the box" so to speak--they have a fairly identifiable sound that they execute more or less how you would expect it to be executed. That sound is a high-energy punk/hardcore/death rock hybrid that reminds me a lot of recent bands like Anasazi and Lost Tribe, as well as older stuff like the first Christian Death LP. So if you're wondering, yeah, there's a lot of chorus pedal here. While, personally, I tend to like post-punk-influenced stuff that's either more pop-oriented or more rugged and aggro, this is pretty much a spot-on interpretation of the classic death rock sound, and if you like the aforementioned bands this is going to be right up your alley as well.
