Zero: Mirror 7
One of two new 7"s this month from this Japanese hardcore-inspired band from Minneapolis. While their other EP offered a kind of Choose Your Own Burning Spirits Adventure, Mirror (wonder where they got that title?) is more straight down the middle, its fast yet still fist-pumping tempos and metallic lead guitar making them sound almost uncannily like Death Side at times. Maybe it's just because they're (presumably) white people playing this style, but I also hear more than a little prime-era Selfish in Mirror as well. As I noted in my description of their other EP, Zero are one of the few American bands playing this style of Burning Spirits worship, and they are a top-notch representation of the style, so if that pushes your pleasure buttons grabbing both of their 7"s is highly recommended.
