Unreal Thought: Isolate the Mind Cassette

7-song cassette EP from this band out of the far reaches of Canada. This features some of the personnel from Negative Rage, but it's very, very different. When I looked this up on bandcamp I saw that it was tagged with a bunch of currently hip genre descriptors like "darkwave," but I think this is a lot more interesting and more in line with the darker, more melodic anarcho bands like Crisis. As a result, it also bears more than a passing resemblance to the great Texan band Institute, though with a much rawer recording. In other words, you can expect lots of martial drumming, catchy little guitar lines, and a vocalist that sounds like he's really bored. This tape is really raw so you kind of have to listen closely and often to get the melodies to pop, but once you do they're really great. Hoping to hear more from these folks!
