The Flex: Do Ya Think I'm Flexi? 7" Flexi

Milk Run Records

Brand new two-song flexi from this much-talked-about UK hardcore band who have been touring the living crap out of the USA for the past month or so. I'm sure that most of you who are interested have heard the Flex by now, but if you haven't, there isn't really a lot to explain. The Flex play totally bruising, bulldozer hardcore without any frills whatsoever, and while that wouldn't really be remarkable in most cases, this band just has a way with writing a song that makes them truly remarkable. It's kind of amazing that they can do a style of hardcore that's so utterly straightforward, but still have an instantly identifiable, truly distinctive voice even within that very narrow framework. I feel like most people's reaction when they hear the Flex is like "so, what's the big deal?," but then when you listen to it for more than a few seconds you start to think "man, this is really good, but I'm not sure precisely why." I think that at the end of the day it's just because these are brilliantly constructed songs. They just happen to be brilliantly constructed songs that you can punch people in the face to.
