Strutter: S/T 7"

Beach Impediment Records

Beach Impediment is pleased to introduce the debut EP from Austin's STRUTTER. Hot on the heels of a true ripper of a demo and a slew of US and Canadian dates with GLUE that the band closed out 2015 with, this four song 7" delivers more of their brand of raging hardcore punk, bringing to mind groups like WHITE PIGS and other frantic acts in that vein. Featuring members of IMPALERS, VAASKA, GLUE, and THEE NODES. Each record comes in a glue pocket sleeve featuring full color art by Scott Young.

Our take: Debut EP from this new band out of Austin, Texas featuring some of the same crop of younger kids who have brought us bands like Institute and Glue. Even though those two bands sound very different, in my mind they're united by two things: an infectious energy and a surprising level of depth to their music, and Strutter shares both of these qualities. Most of their songs barrel along at an upbeat, pogo-informed tempo, so on first listen they kind of sound like Glue without the huge mosh parts, but after a few listens you start to notice the almost psychedelic counter-melodies in the guitars, which have quickly become one of my favorite parts of the band. It all adds up to something that's raging and innovative in equal measures. I'd expect nothing less from Beach Impediment at this point, but this is absolutely top-shelf hardcore punk... highly recommended.
