Randy Uchida Group: R.U.G. Anthology 12"

euro import

Anthology release from the legendary post-GISM project Randy Uchida Group! Featuring several unreleased tracks! Note: the live recordings on this disc are EXTREMELY raw, to the point where many people would find them unlistenable. They're still unreleased R.U.G. tracks, but you probably want to prepare yourself for the worst in terms of fidelity.

Our take: For those of you who don't know, Randy Uchida was the guitarist from the almighty G.I.S.M.. In 1984, his eponymous Randy Uchida Group released a 7" single called "Deathly Fighter," and while its Vince Neil-esque high-pitched vocals are quite a departure from G.I.S.M., is very highly recommended listening if you're a fan of G.I.S.M. (and who isn't?). That single is collected here along with tracks from a 1984 live gig, including a cover of Ozzy Osbourne's "Bark at the Moon." Unfortunately, this fidelity here is absolutely abysmal... it's not too hard to find a better mp3 rip of the 7" tracks online, and the live tracks are pretty much unlistenable. The artwork is cool and everything, but this isn't something you'll spin often. For G.I.S.M. bootleg collectors only, I'd say.
