Poison Rites: S/T cassette
Debut full-length cassette from this high-energy punk/garage band.

Our take: 10-song cassette full-length from this ripping garage/hardcore combo out of Denver. The cassette ends with a cover of "This Is Rock N Roll" by the Kids and that should give you a pretty good idea of where they're coming from... this is classic-sounding rock and roll, but infused with the power and the blistering tempos of hardcore. Vibe-wise this is certainly of a piece with garage-inflected punk bands like the Carbonas or the Rip-Offs, but with a little more rock and roll in the riffing that almost gives some passages an Annihilation Time-type vibe. Cool packaging, pro-duplicated cassettes... the presentation here is basically the opposite of pretentious and self-important, but this little tape is packed with more good tunes than most vinyl releases these days.
