Lumpy & the Dumpers: S/T 7"

Muckraker Records

Finally! After much too long of a wait, the debut 7" from St Louis's great Lumpy & the Dumpers is finally out and it's everything I expected. I remember them playing the a-side, "Sex Pit," live when I saw them this past summer and the riff has been stuck in my head ever since then. It's really difficult for a straight up hardcore band (and Lumpy is hardcore, make no mistake) to pull off a real a-side hit, but "Sex Pit" nails it. The two tracks on the b-side, "Elephant Man" and "Too Much Slime," are of similarly high caliber... the latter may be even be better than "Sex Pit," building its hook around an infectious vocal chant rather than a fetching riff. Wrap this whole package up in an absolutely gorgeous 2-color, screen-printed sleeve (art by Martin from Lumpy, printing by Jordan at Oddities) and you have a 100% essential hardcore 7".
