Helta Skelta: Reds 7"

Helta Skelta Records

Brand new single from this underrated band that has long been a Sorry State fave. When straight up punk bands like this put out a two-song single you know they're going to be bringing the fire, and "Reds" is indeed their best song to date. Like their previous stuff it's heavy, upbeat, and seems influenced by the long tradition of Aussie punk, but there's also a lot of Eddy Current Suppression Ring and Total Control's chiming, bass-driven blend of classic and post-punk in the sound. This is undoubtedly one you'll be bringing the needle back on many, many times. As for the flip, it's a real "b-side," a surf-y, Radio Birdman-esque instrumental, but it's definitely a keeper. I highly recommend this one... if they keep writing songs like this, everyone is going to be talking about Helta Skelta soon.
