Debut 12" from this new Toronto band featuring Ivan from School Jerks / Kremlin on drums. This is definitely a different beast from either of those, though I'm hard-pressed to find a solid point of comparison. There are definitely moments of pure hardcore here, but that's not the overall sound... Farang strike me as a band that's just going for it without any care to whether they're fitting a certain genre or template. The vibe is kind of similar to the punkest Minutemen stuff in that you can tell they're just pushing hard and trying to make good music, but they're super amped about it so it comes out fast and punk. It's kind of all over the place, but it's utterly refreshing to hear a record like this that you can't really pin down.
