Cülo: My Life Sucks and I Could Care Less 12"
New album from Chicago's almighty Culo! I must admit, previous to this LP I always considered Culo more of a "live thing" than a great band on record, but they have stepped up their game here and given us an absolutely killer LP. Musically, I feel like they're integrating this really cool Ramones influence, backing off the tempo just a hair and letting the catchiness of the riffs shine through rather than just blazing through them in a meth-addled blur. Production-wise, this is also really unique... I know people are split on the band's lack of a bass player, but it really works here. It's hard to find a new kind of dynamic in the world of electric guitar rock band, but the way the two guitarists play off of one another is just mind-bending. All in all, this is by leaps and bounds Culo's best work, and a totally essential LP. Deranged Records
