band of young bloods, including a member of Oaf, doing mid-temp hardcore but with almost a spacey post-punk vibe at times.

Our take: Another cassette release from a killer British Columbian band courtesy of Slow Death Records. Crumb play heavy, mid-paced and noisy hardcore that sounds, on the surface, like a lot of noisy DIY hardcore bands' requisite slow dirges, but what really separates them from the pack is the guitar-playing. A lot of the songs have this haunting, reverb-drenched lead guitar lurking in the back of the mix... those guitar parts have a very Gun Club-esque vibe, which is only enhanced by the big, vintage reverb sound. The result is a really unique voice... it kind of reminds me of a Gun Club-influenced band like Ukiah Drag or Fur Helmet jamming with a heavy hardcore band like Hoax. Crumb don't beat you over the head with this sound and reduce it to a mere trapping, but if you're paying attention that added layer of sound is much appreciated.
