Chemical Peel: Bike Thief 7"

Ride the Snake Records

Debut vinyl from this band from the punk no-man's-land of South Carolina. I've seen this band in Charlotte a handful of times over the past few years, and I like them a lot and am stoked to see them get some vinyl out. Musically, Chemical Peel sound kind of a piece what was happening on the Homestead Records label in the late 80s. I'm thinking of stuff like early Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr, Squirrel Bait, etc. While Chemical Peel do kind of sound like those bands, it's more that they're clearly informed by the overall sensibility of punk rather than referencing its aesthetic parameters in a heavy-handed way as most bands of the past 10 or so years tend to do. And, they've also got a seriously great drummer (who also plays in Potty Mouth), which really helps beef up their sound. If you're into punk with a distinctive feminine sensibility (anything from Good Throb to Finally Punk and back) check this out... you will be pleased. Ride the Snake Records
