Total Punk returns to New Orleans yet again for a brand new single by Black Abba. Easily one of my favorite bands of the last Fuck Off and following a killer debut single on Goner Records, putting out a Black Abba single was a no brainer. Blabba returns with two synth driven punk jams about lost dogs and the dreaded band manager. Discordant guitar noise, cheapo synth sounds, street tough girl gang vocals, and 100% Total Punk!

Our take: Second single from this New Orleans band and it's definitely one of the more upbeat and straightforwardly melodic things I've heard spring from that fertile scene as of late. Black Abba have that sound that reminds me of the first few singles by the Fall... not only do they have a similar guitar/bass/drums/vocals/synth setup, but the deadpan nature of their lyrics also brings to mind the Fall as well as numerous groups inspired by them. I'm also reminded a lot of the UV Race, and I think it's a safe bet that if you like(d?) that band you'll ride hard for Black Abba as well. As with a lot of Total Punk singles this one feels like it's over before it starts, but this taste already has me eager for more from this group.
