A love affair between Australia and Spain - one for the real rockers out there. Those lovers truly can't cease to amaze. Highly enjoyable one-of-a-kind sounding stuff from these masterminds.
Demento synth noise from the creepy depths of a dark basement. The energy, hooks, and rawness elevate this above also-ran status, so if youâre a fan of this sound, you have to love it.
A wave of skrunky, Adderall-eyed eggpunk-worship. This Split EP is an impressive collection of tunes, and Iâm looking forward to seeing what this rockers come up with next. Wrap your favorite body parts in tin foil, dye your eyebrows blue, and get ready to sweat out chemicals when you listen to this one.
Our take: You donât see split 7âs as much these days; even rarer are splits like this one, which features two well-matched bands, great artwork, and an EPâs worth of non-throwaway material from each band. If you like either Research Reactor Corp or Prison Affair (and if you like one, you almost certainly like the other), youâre going to want this EP. If you havenât heard them, both bands play that Coneheads-influenced style of egg punk, but theyâre far from interchangeable. RRC is more abrasive, with harsher vocals, more manic grooves, and hooks that center on bursts of synth squelch. Prison Affair is more laid-back and melodic, building their songs around intricate, high-speed lead guitar riffing. Both bands offer three tracks, and if youâre a fan of this sound, itâs hard to imagine you wonât walk away satisfied.
