Bunker Punks is happy to release the U$ version of the debut release from Philly punks Instinct?. The band replicates a style of hardcore that is rarely executed as well as they pull it off, and even more uncommon for bands based out of USA. An obvious reference point would be Doom, but the Crust-inflected sound Instinct? deliver more closely resembles Japanese bands like Abraham Cross. Instinct? differentiate themselves from the metallic side of crust with their clear Discharge and käng influences. Played urgent and raging fast with intense guttural vocals, this tape is 5 tracks of all-out brutal punishment.

No metal, no funk, no death. Bunker Punks approved.

Our take: Usman and Jeff who work at Sorry State put this out on their Bunker Punks label, and like the Tizzi demo they just released, this one gets the enthusiastic Sorry State stamp of approval. Usman gave the lowdown on this one in his staff pick a few weeks ago and the label’s description is way more on the money than I would ever be, but in case you don’t click through to those documents, this tape is exactly the ripping d-beat hardcore you thought it was when you saw the cover. From one angle it sounds like what I’d call metallic crust, but those parts share space with more brutal, Disclose-influenced bashing. Not a skipper.
