Pressing InformationSSR7001 / SSR-01: Direct Control Nuclear Tomorrow EP
test pressing: 12 on black vinyl, no sleeve. 1st press: 1,000 copies, all on black vinyl 2nd press: 500 copies, all on yellow vinyl 3rd press: 500 copies, all on red vinyl 2nd test pressing: 12 on black vinyl, band photo sleeve. I switched pressing plants for the 4th press, so just to be safe I got another round of test pressings. 3 copies each went to the 3 band members and myself. 4th press: 500 copies, all on green vinyl
![]() SSR7002 / SSR-02: Koro 700 Club EP test pressings: - 10 test pressings with red photocopied sleeve. These were rejected because the pressing plant inserted 2 extra seconds of silence between each track. - 5 test pressings with yellow sleeve. This is for the version of the record that we used for the 1st and 2nd pressing - 10 test pressings with lime green sleeve. I had used recordpressing.com for the 1st two pressings and had been very unhappy with their service, so I switched to United for the 3rd pressing. United uses a different manufacturing process to this necessitated another round of test pressings. 1st press: 1,000 copies - 200 on blue/white mix (sky-colored vinyl) - 800 on black - Sleeve opens to the left on all copies. All copies contain an LP-style printed inner sleeve. 2nd press: 1,000 copies - 200 on orange/yellow mix (sun-colored vinyl) - 800 on black - Sleeve opens to the right on all copies. All copies contain an LP-style printed inner sleeve. 3rd press: 1,500 copies, all on black vinyl - Sleeve opens to the right on all copies. Contains a two-sided printed lyric sheet instead of the LP-style printed inner sleeve.
SSR7003 / SSR-03: Rabies Disease Core EP test pressing: 15 on black vinyl, photocopied sleeve. 1st press: 500 copies - 200 on green vinyl - 300 on black vinyl. 2nd press: 500 copies, all on black vinyl.
![]() SSR12001 / SSR-04: Koro Speed Kills LP test pressing: 20 copies, black vinyl, photocopied sleeve. Note: the test pressing cover was designed by Brandon from Direct Control and was intended to be the record's official cover. Carl Snow didn't like it so I came up with the artwork that adorns the official release. 1st press: 1,000 copies - 200 on clear vinyl - 800 on black vinyl. - the 200 clear copies sold out within 48 hours of the record's release 2nd press: 1,000 copies - 200 on blue vinyl - 800 on black vinyl. ![]() SSR-04.5: Cross Laws Can't Sleep cassette / cdr 1st press (cassette): 100 hand-numbered cassettes. pre-1st press (CDR): an unknown quantity (probably 10-15) CDRs with inserts on plain white paper. I accidentally ran 100 copies on plain paper and sent a few out before I decided I didn't like it. I'm pretty sure all of these went to European distros. This version is very rare and I don't even have a copy anymore. 1st press (CDR): 100 CDRs with tan-colored inserts. 2nd press (CDR): 100 CDRs with red inserts.
SSR12002 / SSR-05: Rabies Test Your Might LP test pressings: NONE. Against my better judgement, there were no test presses for this release. Rabies needed the record out in time for their southern trek out to This Is for You Fest, but the artwork caused several delays and we needed the manufacturing process to go as quickly as possible so we skipped the test pressing stage. Thankfully everything turned out fine. 1st press (vinyl): 1,000 copies - 150 copies on red/black splatter vinyl - 150 copies on red/black split vinyl - 700 copies on black vinyl - The split vinyl was only available via mailorder from Sorry State, the splatter vinyl was only available at the band's shows and through their myspace page. 1st press (CD): 1,000 copies ![]() SSR7004 / SSR-06: Christian Club Final Confession EP test pressing: 8 copies, black vinyl, photocopied sleeve. 1st press: 500 copies - 25 copies on black vinyl with pre-release sleeve. These were meant to be sold on the Cross Laws 2007 midwest tour, but like an idiot I left the box sitting in my room when I left. So, the majority of these got sold in the webstore instead; the rest of the copies went to the band. - 200 copies on white vinyl - 275 copies on black vinyl. 2nd press: 500 copies, all on black vinyl.
![]() CL-01 / SSR-06.5: Cross Laws Behind the Curve EP test pressing: 10 copies, black vinyl, photocopied sleeve. 1st press: 300 copies, all black vinyl, each one hand-numbered and hand-stamped on the side with the lyrics. - a handful of these copies were sold on Cross Laws' 2007 midwest tour; the rest sold out from the Sorry State webstore in about 24 hours
![]() CL-02 / SSR-07: Cross Laws Ancient Rites EP Note: this record was plagued with difficulties so this is complicated 1st test pressing: 50 copies, black vinyl, "sphinx" sleeve, extra track ("Violent Disposition") on the b-side. - these were pressed up for our southeast tour with Double Negative. We sold about 15 copies on the tour, gave about 5 copies to friends and the rest are in the Sorry State collection. 2nd test pressing: 50 copies, black vinyl, regular sleeve on orange paper, b-side does NOT contain the extra track, "Violent Disposition" is crossed out on the back of the sleeve. - When we got back from tour we all decided that the version of "Violent Disposition" on the 1st round of test pressings was too sloppy so we got United to re-cut the record without that track. They had to remaster it from scratch and, amazingly, this time the record sounded WAY better. I forgot to tell United that I didn't want 50 of this round of test pressings, so when they showed up we decided to sell them at our last show. We sold about 30 copies at that show and the rest are in the Sorry State collection. 1st press: 1,000 copies, all hand-numbered, b-side does NOT contain the track "Violent Disposition" - 200 copies on gold vinyl with gold sleeve ("Violent Disposition" is NOT listed on the back cover) - about 450 copies on black vinyl with gold sleeve ("Violent Disposition" is NOT listed on the back cover) - about 350 copies on black vinyl with orange sleeve ("Violent Disposition" IS listed on the back cover; I crossed it out on some, but not all, copies. - this record was SUPPOSED to be limited to 500 copies with 200 on gold and 300 on black. However, United screwed up and sent me 1,000 copies. Weirdly, Imprint had also messed up printing the covers and sent me 500 extra sleeves printed on dark orange instead of gold paper, so once all the gold sleeves were gone I switched to the rejected dark orange sleeves (which had also been used for the 2nd round of test pressings, most of which were sold at our last show). Since the record was supposed to be limited to 500, the back had "/500 printed on it." If I was smart I would have used 500 gold sleeves and 500 orange sleeves and made them like 2 separate pressings. However, I HATED the orange sleeves and wanted to use as few of them as possible, so I just kept numbering until I ran out of records. So it won't be uncommon to find records numbered things like "764/500." Got that? (because I'm not sure I do.)
![]() SSR-07.5: The Obtruders: Demo cassette / cdr 1st press (cassette): 114 hand-numbered cassettes CDRs: unknown quantity (these were all made to order and I didn't keep track of how many I made). All sleeves are printed on orange paper and all CDRs are screen-printed with the Sorry State logo.
![]() SSR-08: Bored to Death Bored to Death EP test pressing: 12 copies, black vinyl, photocopied Government Issue ripoff sleeve. 1st press: 500 copies - about 190 on pink vinyl - 300 on black vinyl - unknown quantity (estimated 5-15) on white vinyl. This was an unintended variation. The way United Records makes their pink vinyl is by mixing white and red vinyl. The mix is not consistent from record-to-record, and a small handful of copies had no red in them at all or only a few very faint flecks. I took about half of these and saved them for my own collection and distributed the other half randomly among the label's mailorder copies. If you have an all-white copy then you are extremely lucky. 2nd press: 500 copies, all on black vinyl.
![]() SSR-09: Crossed Eyes Rattled EP test pressing: 15 copies, black vinyl, photocopied sleeve. 1st press (September 2007): 500 copies, all on black vinyl - 35 copies, hand-numbered, with special "Dennis Fest" sleeve - 465 copies with the regular sleeve 2nd press (November 2007): 500 copies, all on black vinyl - These copies are indistinguishable from the 1st press
![]() SSR-10: Double Negative: Raw Energy EP test pressing: 21 copies with faux-die-cut sleeves. 1st press: 1000 copies, all on clear vinyl with no labels and 4-panel, perforated sleeve. ![]() SSR-12: Instängd: Mitt Svar På Ingenting E.P. test pressing: 12 copies with full-color "bug" cover. 1st press: 500 copies, black vinyl with tan sleeve 2nd press: 500 copies, black vinyl with green sleeve
![]() SSR-13: Smart Cops: Self-titled EP test pressing: 21 copies with photocopied sleeve. 1st press: 500 copies on purple vinyl, 500 copies on peach vinyl. ![]() |
